Leaving Families Thank You Celebration

This Thursday night, I am delighted that we will take time to say farewell to a number of families who will complete their formal association with the College, as their last child completes Year 12 this year.

Many of these families have had a long association with the College and I look forward to celebrating with and thanking those families who have committed many years to Catholic education in our region.

Rest in Peace Chris Read

Our prayers and condolences are offered to Jane, Darcy, the Read family and friends at the passing of Chris last weekend. Darcy is a student in the Early Learning and Community Centre. I know our community will gather around the Read family at this very sad and difficult time to support them to navigate the challenges ahead.

Social Justice Sunday - Everyone’s Business: Developing an inclusive and sustainable economy

Last Sunday we celebrated Social Justice Sunday and in their Social Justice Statement for 2017–18, ‘Everyone’s Business: Developing an inclusive and sustainable economy’. The Bishops of Australia call for an economy that is founded on justice and offers dignity and inclusion to every person.  Such a society will reject an ‘ideology of the market’ that forgets the principles of justice and equity. Justice must be built into the very foundations of our community, and business can work for everybody’s benefit, not just for shareholders. The excluded and vulnerable must have a voice in decision-making. God is calling us to use his abundance wisely, for the good of all and of our planet.

Principal for the Day – Lauren Jones  

Lauren Jones (from 1MB) was the winner of the ‘Principal for the Day’ raffle run by Isla Dickson and 5CD during Term 3, raising money to support the Mount Gambier Hospital Chemotherapy Unit.

Lauren will join me on Friday 29 September to assist in ensuring the school concludes the term in the best possible way. I look forward to Lauren assisting me in making some key decisions for the College this Friday.

Parents in Education Week

Thanks to Kylie Ind and Jennie Sanderson for organising the ‘Parents in Education Week’ presentations during week 9. The live online sessions were a great opportunity for parents to come together and learn about engaging in, as well as supporting their child’s education.

Reflections of Term 3

As term three draws to a close we are thankful for the many gifts received as a school community.  The opportunity to participate in learning experiences has generated new understandings, knowledge and skills founded on good relationships within and beyond the school community.  I am thankful for the gifts and talents offered by our committed teaching, support, office and grounds staff and very pleased at the opportunities seized by our students.  The resultant learning and experiences have ensured an animated, dedicated school community.
